Toledo Zoo received the No. 1 ranking, and the Memphis Zoo is happy to congratulate them on this recognition.
“What a great day for zoos all over the country,” said Abbey Dane, Memphis Zoo Director of Marketing and Communications. “We couldn’t be more excited about the award, and the mission of zoos all over the U.S. will benefit from this recognition. We are so proud of zoo fans everywhere for getting out there and voting.”
With the award, the Memphis Zoo ranked higher than much larger zoos in larger metropolitan areas such as San Diego Zoo, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Columbus Zoo.
The site conducts periodic Top 10 lists and received an unprecedented number of votes during the 10Best Zoos contests. The site reported that the results far exceeded any response they have seen during any previous contests.
The USA Today 10Best organization covers 236 major metropolitan areas worldwide, offering travel tips and ideas, along with periodic top ten lists.
