Magazine Praises Memphis Pizza

2/27/2013

The magazine Travel + Leisure has released a list of the top 20 cities to get a slice of pizza and both Memphis and Nashville made the list.

Though Memphis is well-known as a culinary destination, pizza may not be the first signature food that pops to mind. But Travel + Leisure notes that, "Fun-loving Memphis takes a soulful approach to its pizza."

The article places Memphis 14th on its top 20 list citing Hog & Hominy's Red Eye pizza and the pulled pork and coleslaw pizza at Aldo's Pizza Pies.

Southern Living Coming to Memphis Tomorrow?

2/26/2013

Picture
Go ahead and make tomorrow's lunch plans today. The Memphis Food Truckers Association is holding a food truck rodeo in Court Square downtown tomorrow.

Currently, it looks like Stickem Food, Fuel Truck, Rock'n'Dough Pizza, Mark's Grill and Yolo, A Square Meal will be attending, but there's the possibility that a few more will be there. The trucks will be parked in Court Square from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb. 27th). It looks like Southern Living may be there taking pictures for their South's  Tastiest Town Contest.

The weather looks like it's going to be ideal: the high is around 50 degrees, and the sky will be partly cloudy with almost no chance of rain.

Marketing Monday Tip:

2/25/2013

When sending emails to reporters, customers or even potential employees, it is important to be clear and to the point. As you well know, others have busy schedules and are already being bombarded by other emails each day. Make your subject line enticing and your email body easy to scan quickly for a better chance that your intended party will open and read your email and then respond.

Marketing Monday: Babies and Cars and Beer, Oh My!

2/4/2013

Beyonce, blackout, the Harbaugh brothers coaches, a Ravens win, an almost comeback, and MVP Flacco...there was no shortage of entertainment during last night's Super Bowl XLVII. But the social media buzz today has been centered around the commercials .

Marketers spent some serious dollars during last night's Super Bowl, some up to $4m per spot. Some notable brands included ads by Dodge, Taco Bell, Budwesier and Jeep and others were discussed on social media channels as not worth the money spent, many claiming Go Daddy's Perfect Match as the worst. Upcoming movies Fast and Furious 6, Star Trek and Iron Man 3 were all teased during last night's game. Twitter was abuzz with quick reactions by marketers including Oreo and Chrysler, who scored big with quick comebacks after the lights went out in the Super Dome. A parody account called @SuperBowlLights even popped up within minutes of the blackout.

Of all the commercials, I was personally most impressed by Dodge's "God Made a Farmer". With all the booze and sexuality delivered, Dodge used the late, well-loved Paul Harvey's voiceover from a speech he gave in 1978 at the National FAA Convention to express their appreciation and love of God, local business and family to 100 million viewers. Well done, Dodge. Best ad of the night, maybe ever!
