Owner Name? Kathy Katz
Where are you from? Memphis
How did you start doing what you do and why? Worked for a company assisting people with small business start ups, eventually opened my own diner in the Southern School of Optometry where I cooked up to 600 meals per day, all from scratch and fresh ingredients.
What made you interested in becoming a Vendor at the MFM and when? My friend Sheri McKelvie, owner of Cucina Breads and vendor at the MFM, suggested I would be a good fit back in 2008.
Why the name of your company? My first business was at the Southern School of Optometry and then I decided to keep the name since everyone knew my business by that name.
Fav thing to cook/eat? We don’t cook them but I love chicken wings.
What’s your favorite thing about Saturdays at MFM? The customers and the other vendors who have become like family to me.
What is the product you’re most proud of? I’m proud of all my products but my no mayonnaise European Chicken Salad is a customer favorite. I am more proud of the fact that I source all of my ingredients locally and I can tell you exactly what is in all my food and where it comes from.
What is one product that you’d consider your “underdog” (i.e. a product that you feel doesn’t get the credit it deserves or one that customers are surprised by)? Hot Tamale Pie!
What do you do for fun or relax? Walk my dog and read.
If you could have dinner with one person dead or alive, who would it be? My mom and I would make her pay!
